Applications for the Formation Flight
are closed as of 1/5/2010.

If you plan to fly in to AirVenture independently
please contact us using the form at the bottom of this page.

Dear Aircraft Owner:

Due to the size of the aircraft, their limited maneuverability, and valid safety reasons, the maximum number of participants in this special flight operation called "The Last Time" has been limited to 40. If you plan to participate, here are some things that you should be aware of.

First, there is no guaranteed financial return or payment to any participating aircraft. No one can say how much donation and corporate funding may be raised  We can only commit that 100% of all funds received towards the "general fund" will be dispersed fairly and equally by an independent entity. It is the intention of The Last Time to divide the proceeds of fundraising efforts on a pro rata basis considering only the distance flown from your home base to KSQI.

EAA has committed to provide 100 gallons of 100LL to each aircraft involved in the formation flight, upon their arrival. Although no firm agreement has been reached, we have reason to believe that EAA may support the flight with additional fuel allotments and/or fuel discounts.

If you are considering participating in The Last Time with your aircraft, the following are written published assurances from EAA:

  • AirVenture 2010 EAA desires to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the DC-3, possibly the greatest airplane in the history of aviation. This will be positioned as one of the major headline themes of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010, with attendant publicity across all media.
  • EAA will work with the community of DC-3 owners, operators, historians, enthusiasts, etc in encouraging participation and attendance at AirVenture 2010, under the concept of  "The Last Tme."
  • EAA will provide a complimentary week long wristband for individuals that arrive as crewmembers and passengers via confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • EAA will provide assistance with airshow fuel allotment at staging area, KSQI, as well as KOSH for confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • Camping will be permitted in or adjacent to each confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • Free aircraft parking will be provided for all confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • EAA encourages DC-3 presentations in the Forums and EAA Museum (scheduled through Mark Forss).
  • One dedicated evening with DC-3 75th anniversary theme at the Theatre in the Woods venue.
  • EAA coordination with The Last Time regarding the day, date, exact TOT, altitude, and heading for mass formation overflight, and landing clearance are not alterable once airborne and inbound to the field for confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • EAA will be responsible for issuing valid press credentials both at KSQI and at KOSH for media representatives wishing to cover this event, and ride on confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • EAA formal printed Program will include a biography allotment for each of the confirmed guest aircraft with a valid slot reservation.
  • EAA will actively seek other program and PR opportunities, including magazine features in months prior to AirVenture, etc.
Next, each participating aircraft is solely responsible for their own ship and passengers. If you elect to participate it is recommended that your aircraft be in excellent mechanical condition, that all required inspections are up to date, and that your selected flight crew be properly qualified to include recent formation flight experience.

You may want to consider conducting your own individual fundraising as a separate function of any proceeds to be generated during the course of the project. If you have any significant connections with any individual or corporation, please use those as a representative of The Last Time to encourage their tax deductible gift towards these efforts. See the Sponsor page for more information.

Finally, the slot reservation is conducted on a first come, first serve basis and is open to all participants.  Your submission of the following form is date stamped and held in "seniority order" for the purpose of confirming the award of any slot reservation.

All aircraft owners requesting slots will be interviewed to confirm the actual viability of their aircraft.  The confirmed slot reservations will be published on this site and updated as they are confirmed.

Thank you. We look forward to flying with you on this unforgettable experience.
For The Last Time.
