We at M & M
Aviation at the Whiteside County Airport are proud to be chosen to host the
staging of the
DC-3s and C-47s. As FBO and Airport
Manager, I am excited to help guide our
staff and volunteers to insure a successful
celebration of the anniversary of these
aircraft. What three months ago started out
as 25 of the huge, historic birds visiting
us has now grown to even more impressive
size. As most of us know, some of these
aircraft will be carrying a precious cargo
of WWII veterans (pilots, paratroopers) and
other important history-making people; some
who helped to change our world and our
country, others who are in a position to
change our country now.
We are full of
anticipation, excitement, and awe at the
advent of hosting the event for the weekend.
From the first meeting, we began to focus on
the challenges and goals needed to show our
visitors our friendship, respect and our
professionalism. This project, with all of
its logistics, has been and will continue to
be time consuming, but rewarding for all
involved. As of now, we have succeeded in
involving very dedicated and hard working
volunteers, so that this historic event can
also be part of the history of the
Whiteside
County Airport.
During the time they are here, we will
strive to treat all with the hospitality for
which the Illinois Rock River Valley is famous. Plans include providing
them with free transportation, food,
beverages, and just about anything these
visitors need. We have negotiated with the
local hotels for great affordable rates for
the weekend. Our celebration with them will
culminate in “The Last Supper” which has
been donated for all by one of our local
businesses.

We look forward to
welcoming and providing ground support to
the aircraft and crews of The Last Time on
their journey to OSH. Located in Benton
Kansas, just outside of the Wichita Kansas
Class C Airspace, Stearman Field is the most
talked about new fly-in destination in the
area. Lloyd Stearman Field is a privately
owned, public use airport that is highly
recognized by aviators as the premier
residential airport in Kansas with a 5,100
foot paved and lighted GPS approach runway
and a 2,600 foot turf runway with clear
approaches.
Stearman Field is proud to offer
quality Conoco Phillips 100LL fuel at cost
and free meals from the on-airport Stearman
Field Bar and Grill to The Last Time DC-3
and C47 aircraft and flight crews. A Full
Service FBO, 24 hour credit card fuel, full
service fuel, no-fee parking, maintenance
with DC-3 experience, high speed wireless
internet, courtesy cars, flight planning
room, rental cars, free shuttle service,
free coffee and soft drinks and restrooms
and showers are also offered to help make
your journey to or from
OSH
as pleasant as possible. Owners are EAA
members who live on the airport and provide
the best mid-western hospitality around.
Stearman Field Bar and Grill is an
aviation-themed restaurant offering the best
Angus Steaks, Hamburgers, Chicken Fried
Steaks, Salads and much more for miles
around.

Manager on the civilian side of Grissom ARB
in Peru, IN. I know many of you are making
plans of where to stop enroute for the mass
arrival. Please consider Grissom as a rally
point prior to flying into Sterling Rock
Falls
KSQI.
Right now I would like

I own
and manage two FBOs in North Central
Arkansas, Fly Arkansas LLC. We have
locations in Harrison, AR (KHRO) and
Mountain Home, AR (KBPK).
We would love to
have the opportunity to provide services
to assist with anything anyone needs.
Our KBPK location has during the week
and on call radial engine mechanics for
anyone needing assistance. We can also
order radial engine oil in bulk for
anyone who may need it. We are one of
the largest oil distributors in the
midwest and can really help people out
just so we can take some pictures with
the aircraft.
We are willing to
offer Avgas in either place for
essentially cost!
There is a Subway restaurant open
Mon-Sat at our BPK location. We have a
2010 Ford Mustang crew car that the
crews can use there also! We have hotel
arrangements and can provide
transportation, usually with one of our
crew cars to take for an evening if
someone needs it. We really love to see
at least one DC-3 for The Last Time...
